What you need to get a job


There are five things you need in order to get a job:

  • The right skills
  • The right contacts
  • Strong recommendations
  • Evidence you can make the transition to industry
  • A professional presence

These things are all intertwined.  Making the right contacts will help you get strong recommendations.  Having the right skills will make it easier to establish your professional presence.  Things that you do to show that you can work in the business world will help to develop your contacts and skills.  Let's look at them in detail.
