One of the most popular features of dougsguides is the self-assessment quiz "Who Should I Work For?".  This quiz helps you to determine your work personality and matches it to the cultures of various workplaces. The aggregated results for everyone who has taken the quiz are below.

If you haven't taken the quiz yet, why not take it now before you look at the results?

This questionnaire is based on Tamara Erickson's "archetypes of work-related passions" from her book Plugged In (Harvard Business Press: 2008), but I have changed some of the questions and renamed her personality categories.

Results for "Who Should I Work For?"

The percentages below represent a sort of 'average' user computed from all the people who have taken the quiz.  It's basically the percentage of times that an answer pertaining to the particular personality type was chosen.  So 27% of the answers to the quiz represented the 'Individual Contributor' personality type.

Most of the people who took this quiz were upper-level classmen, graduate students and post-docs, so I don't think it is too surprising that Individual Contributor and Team Player answers are highly represented.

If you are interested in the answers to the individual questions, click on the link on the lower right. (Note: the order of the answers in the following pages mirrors the order of the personality types below.  When you took the quiz, the order of the answers was randomized, so that 'Individual Contributor' answers were not always first on the list)
