Handling Conflict Inside and Outside the Lab

T-RexConflicts are an inescapable part of life.  Some conflicts - like disagreements over scientific results - can be productive.  But conflicts over space, money, and authorship can turn ugly quickly.  How you handle conflict depends in part on your personality and techniques you've learned to resolve differences.  This workshop, taught by entrepreneur and educator Doug Kalish, will enable you to self-assess your own attitudes and approaches to resolving conflicts and introduce you to techniques you might not have considered.  Also, we'll analyze some real scenarios involving conflicts with other people and develop strategies for dealing with them.  You'll learn techniques that you can begin using immediately after the workshop and for the rest of your life.

BEFORE coming to the workshop, assess your own conflict resolution styles by going to /conflict_style and download either the pdf or the spreadsheet.  (The spreadsheet is way easier to fill out because it self-scores).  Bring the results to the workshop.
